I have heard it also attacks invading diseases which I believe explains why one study showed NO (ie zero) men getting Chlamydia compared to circumcised men contracting that STD.
But, like earwax or nasal mucus which both have purpose, it can become gross to modern society views, if not cleaned away regularly - after it has defeated incoming bacteria. -

that old canard about how we are the evolution-selected best at surviving and so most of the things our body makes or does are adaptations that gave us MORE advantage, makes a lot of sense to me.
I'm female so cn;t comment directly based on experience from the inside, as it were. but jeez...we have such serious fear of fluids and semi-0fluids in this society that it;s amazing we let people appear in public with their noses and mouths uncovered!

Thu, January 31, 2008 - 6:15 PMI was accually just reading articles on this very subject of the importance of smegma. our bodies are quite amazing when we open up to learn more about them , though ive been cut , im always envious of the naturalness of the foreskin and would love to have mine back to explore and feel its many pleasures and purposes..much like a womans natural lubricant, our intact foreskin serves much the same.... Fascinating to me....
