you know, i came to this tribe with an honest question, looking for some sound advice from people whom i thought might be more "in the know" than i. get a quick answer & some knowledge thrown my way from people with whom i share a fierce opinion: that medically unnecessary circumcision of our boys & girls is wrong wrong wrong.

what did i get? well, with the sole exception of fixit fox's understanding reply, i got a bunch of snarky, defensive comments & an accusation of being innapropriate with my son. i also got called a "sick-o". (did i spell it right this time, asshole?)

if this is the current face of intactivism, then our shared cause is doomed. some oblivious, neutral pregnant mom is gonna wander in here, read how people react when sought for knowledge & become soured on the whole idea. good job.

do you know who has the power to erradicate circumcision? mothers & fathers. i'm a mother. i come from a long line of enlightened mothers who chose not to have their sons' penises cut. four generations back (as far as i know, maybe longer), including my grandfather, my uncle, my brother & my son are all intact men. we who spit in the face of medical standards are your fucking heroes.

so show me just a little respect next time i ask a question. i've never had a son before, so this is all new to me. if you can manage not to snicker at my naivety, i promise to pass on all of my newfound wisdom to anyone who asks me the same questions someday.
